The social aspect of Kallisti is what makes it great. That's why it's important to remember to treat others with a basic level of respect. Racism, sexism, ethnic or religious slanders, attacking others, or any other form of derogatory comments over public channels will not be tolerated.
Kallisti is a diverse fantasy world where people come together to have fun. In order to promote this fun and friendly environment, the following rules of conduct and etiquette have been established for everyone to abide.
Don't cheat. Violation of the rules, and exploitation of any bugs that are found, especially rampant cheating, will decrease the value of the MUD. The social atmosphere will suffer as cheating causes constant problems for immortals and mortals alike. In addition, excessive rule breaking will result in harsher penalties for those who are a problem, which will carry over to those who simply made a mistake. Punishment for cheating may result in the removal of your characters.
In general, you will receive a warning the first time you're caught cheating. The second violation will result in exile, freeze, or mute as the situation warrants. The third violation will result in account deletion and/or site banning.
Punishment for cheating is subject to administrative decision. It could be less or more severe depending on circumstances.
One player with multiple simultaneous connections to the mud is called multi-playing. It is typically used when one player wants to play more than one character on Kallisti at the same time.
Multi-playing is cheating.
The use of botting (see below) to control another person's character, even when they are logged in, is considered multi-playing. Both people involved will be punished.
Players can have more than one simultaneous connection for eq and gold exchange. This must be done in a player house, a clan hall, temple, or temple garden. BOTH characters MUST be in the same room, characters in ANY other room will be considered to be cheating.
Kallisti's admin staff is allowed two simultaneous connections: one for their mortal and one for their administrative character. This is only to assist in administrative duties. The administrative character needs to be wizinv if their mortal is logged in, unless they are actively helping someone with their immortal.
Kallisti's nature as a text-based online game makes it prone to software packages that allow you to automate the actions and responses of your character. This is referred to as botting.
Botting can be a very powerful tool, which helps you play the game. In fact, due to the amount of information involved when working in larger groups, botting can be the only thing that keeps you and your gaming group alive.
Unfortunately, it's possible to use advanced botting techniques to completely automate a characters actions and responses in the game. The result is a character that can play the MUD without needing a player. This is bad. We want you to enjoy playing the game - not your computer. Please, never leave your computer playing the game unattended. Small breaks of a few minutes are ok, but we'll have to delete your account if it becomes clear that you're trying to advance your character by letting your computer play the game for you.

Game bugs are unintentional. Taking advantage of them is cheating. Reporting them is very much appreciated and helps the game operate as designed. At the owners' discretion, there can be a reward given for the reporting of a bug. Making the MUD stable and bug-free should be a goal of everyone, players and immortals.
Bugs that allow one to directly kill non-outlaw/PK players, or bugs that crash the MUD are very serious. Taking advantage of bugs of this nature typically result in account deletion.
Harassment: To irritate or torment persistently. Synonyms: harass, harry, hound, badger, pester, plague. Source: dictionary.com.
Do not harass, abuse, insult, or spam people over public or private channels. Do not make triggers that use the public channels.
Profanity on any public channel outside of Rude is frowned upon.
Administration has final say in conduct over public channels, and if we warn you that you have crossed the town the line (or are even coming close), please listen to us.
Slips and moments of anger or frustration will not be considered a hanging offense, but please try to moderate yourself. Slurs involving race, ethnicity, religion, or sexual-preference will not be tolerated anywhere, even on the Rude channel. Punishment will be swift, decisive, and probably gory.
Saccing player corpses against their wishes is considered harassment and against the rules.

Player killing (PK) is the term used when one player's character is used to kill another player's character. Some players see this as an opportunity for fun and challenge. In this spirit, PK is allowed on the MUD, but there are specific guidelines that must be followed.
Both people must be willing participants. Entering a designated PK area, going outlaw, joining a hostile clan, or becoming a player-thief means you're willing to participate. PK can occur in standard areas when both participants are outlaw or one participant is a player-thief.
It is possible to summon unwilling victims into the lair of an aggressive monster that automatically attacks and kills them. Protection against this form of attack exists in the form of the setsummon command. If a player gets your character killed using this approach, we encourage you to reconfigure your summon options to more restrictive settings by typing setsummon at the prompt in the game.
You can only attack other characters up to three levels below your level and up to four levels above your level, including noble levels.
Player-thieving (PT) is the act of stealing from other player characters in the game. It is allowed. Your chance of success varies depending upon your character's skills, abilities, and class.
While you may be able to steal something worthwhile, you should know the chance of success is low and the risks involved are very high. A failed attempt at stealing results in a player-thief flag, which opens you to attack from other players. (See above note about player-killing.) If you steal successfully, keep quiet about it or your flag will be set manually.
You must be at least level 15 to steal from other players. Player-thief status is removed only when another player kills your character. Death by traps or monsters is insufficient to the task.
Anyone can attack a player-thief, but you'll only receive credit for the kill if the thief is within 15 levels.
Outlaw players can attack other outlaw players. Being killed while outlaw will not result in the loss of stats, eq, or experience although unlike the arena, equipment may get damaged during the normal course of combat. You will lose a set amount of gold based on your level when killed by another player. Outlaws get a bonus of 4% on all experience they earn. Outlaws can also cast spells in designated peace rooms.
You cannot go Outlaw until you attain level 20. Outlaw status is removed when another player kills your character.
Outlaws can attack others up to 10 levels above or below their own level.
There is no honor in this MUD's outlaw system or its outlaws - you can (and probably will) be ambushed anywhere, at any time.
The immortal staff is here to help you and do their best to make Kallisti an enjoyable place for all. Any derogatory comments towards the immortal staff will not be tolerated on any channel.
